Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood is home to more than just tech companies, great coffee and awesome craft beer!

It’s also home to a variety of arts and cultural organizations, companies and businesses like D2 Dance Studio, and we love being part of this vibrant Vancouver neighbourhood.

Welcome to D2 Dance Studio

NEW CLASSES START JULY 2019: Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Zouk and more!

Curious about the dance classes we offer? Check out this video from a recent Open House to see some of our dance instructors in action and the dance styles and classes we offer.

How to get started?

If you’re new to dancing, we offer three ways to help get you started:

1. Drop-in Intro Salsa Lessons on Friday nights

2. The monthly Beginner Salsa Bootcamp (once-a-month Saturday afternoon)

3. Or sign up for weekly beginner Salsa classes

Click the button below to find more info about all of these ways to get started dancing on our New to Salsa page.

Welcome New Students

Whether you are new to dancing or you’ve been dancing for years, at D2 Dance Studio we provide you with a fun and rewarding experience through our dance classes and social dance events. We offer group classes and workshops in partner dance styles such as Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Zouk, Tango, Hustle and more, from beginner to advanced levels.

We’re located in one of Vancouver’s most popular neighbourhoods: Mount Pleasant. You’ll find us at 55 West 8th Ave (Map), nestled between Main St and Cambie and near Olympic Village. Conveniently close to many of Vancouver’s best coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, and craft breweries, we love being part of the bustling community of new businesses in this charming neighbourhood.

Do I need a partner to attend class? Not at all. You’ll dance with lots of different people in classes. Some students come to classes with a partner, whether it be a friend or significant other. But the majority of people who attend dance classes come on their own. Some have significant others at home who don’t share their interest in learning to dance, but many single people of all ages attend dance classes as it’s a terrific way to socialize and meet new people.

What if I have two left feet and no rhythm, can I still learn how to dance? Yes absolutely you can, and we can help you! Our instructors include many of Vancouver’s best dance teachers, who are dedicated to creating a learning environment that is not only fun and encouraging, but also challenging and fulfilling.

Beginner Salsa Bootcamp

SATURDAY July 27, 2pm-5pm

Are you curious to try a beginner salsa class to see if you like it, without having to sign up for weekly lessons? The Beginner Salsa Bootcamp is Vancouver’s most popular entry point into salsa for people new to dancing. It’s a fun, beginner-friendly, non-intimidating introductory class, and it’s how many of our students who now regularly attend classes got started.

The Beginner Salsa Bootcamp is a three-hour introductory workshop held once-a-month on Saturday afternoons. It provides a more intensive and practical learning experience than a typical drop-in beginner lesson and many people who register for weekly classes start off with this introductory salsa workshop to try salsa dancing and see if it’s something they enjoy.

Fun, beginner-friendly, social, and no dance experience necessary. And no partner necessary either, it doesn’t matter if you come on your own or as a couple.

The next Beginner Salsa Bootcamp is on Saturday July 27

Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square

Sundays: July 7-Aug 25

Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square is an annual series of FREE outdoor salsa dances held at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver for eight Sundays from July 7 to August 25.

Now in its 13th year, the dances are open to everyone and you are welcome even if you’ve never danced a day in your life. Try the free lesson at 3pm, watch the performances at 5pm, or just check out the social dancing throughout the afternoon and see how much fun it is!

Check out this terrific Vancouver Sun article (by Denise Ryan) about Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square.

Free Dance Lessons and Dance Shows

The Sunday Afternoon Salsa dances start with a Free Beginner Salsa Dance Lesson at 3pm for anyone who has ever wanted to learn how to dance salsa, even those who claim they have two left feet! The lesson lasts for half an hour (3:00-3:30pm) and is taught by some of Vancouver’s best salsa instructors. At 5pm there is a Dance Show featuring performances by some of Vancouver’s more talented dancers.

The Summer 2019 season runs for eight weeks, every Sunday from July 7 to August 25.

Did you know that dancing makes you happy and can help you live a more active life, reduce stress, develop new friendships, and much more. It’s fun too! What are you waiting for?

Studies show that social interaction is one of the most important factors in your mental and physical health and well-being. That means spending less time looking at a screen and more time participating in engaging social activities like dance classes.

Less screen time, more real time!
